If you have questions about online giving this video is for you.
Earlier today, I shared an email from Morris Thompson, the Bishop of Louisiana. In his message, Bishop Thompson called for all churches in the diocese of Louisiana to close their doors until at least early April. The Bishop's guidance is directed toward worship services and does not include our preschool.
At this time the school will remain open. We will update you immediately if that changes. I apologize for any confusion. As always, thank you for your continued support. Yours in Christ, Ashley+ Pastoral Letter – Update on COVID-19 Guidelines
Monday, March 16, 2020 | Community Ministry, Diocesan News, Message from Bishop Thompson Dear Sisters and Brothers, I write to you in the midst of our historic health crises. It is truly difficult to comprehend the movement of the virus and the impact impeding us. We continue to monitor what experts advise and promptly implement new guidelines. It is with this in mind that I write to you. Beginning Sunday, March 22, 2020 all Episcopal churches in the Diocese of Louisiana will close their doors. While this is a painful decision, the need to slow the virus is of utmost importance. Toward the end of the month we will re-evaluate and communicate updated information. During our time away from each other, please open your prayerbook and acquaint yourself with the beautiful prayers and collects. Use this season of self-isolation to be prayerful and seek the presence of God. Ask yourself, where is the goodness of God and what is God teaching me. I continue to encourage churches to find ways to minister to each other through social media, FaceTime and other means of communication. We may be sequestered in our homes, but that doesn’t mean we are alone. May God hold each and everyone in the palm of God’s hands. I am as always, Your servant in Christ, The Rt. Rev. Morris K. Thompson, Jr. Bishop of Louisiana Just a reminder we are having church in the morning at 1045am using the policies outlined in Fr. Ashley's email on Thursday. If you or anyone in your family doesnt feel well please stay home. If you are among the high-risk groups and are concerned about attending, please stay home. We will be sharing the service on Facebook live. Remember, scripture calls us, time and time again to "not be afraid." However, using sound discernment to make good decisions is not a sign of fear. Rather it is a sign of wisdom and sound judgment.
![]() Dear Brothers and Sisters, In the Bible, one of the most common commands that we find is “Do not be afraid.” Fear is a powerful emotion and one that is often difficult to manage. How do we just stop feeling something? It that even possible? Although it may not be entirely possible to simply stop being afraid, there are certainly steps we can take to help manage our fear. The news of the coronavirus, or COVID 19 spreading throughout our country and within our state has caused fear and anxiety for many. It is understandable why this disease may cause fear for you. However, just as those in the Biblical narrative were called to face their fears, we too must not let our fear control us. Rather, as people of faith and goodwill we must face our fear and anxiety. One of the best ways to manage our fear it to plan and prepare to deal with the things we can control. As a way of addressing our fears and concerns, and ensuring the health and safety of the people of St. Patrick’s to the best of our ability, we are going to implement some recommended social distancing practices during the season of Lent. Regarding Worship and Communion:
How can you be prepared for COVID-19? Practice good personal health habits. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bend of your elbow. Hands should be washed often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Educate yourself on the coronavirus:
Remember, above all, to hold all health care workers, public officials, and all the sick in prayer, remembering the constant counsel of scripture not to fear. As God tells us in Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand” (CEB). God’s blessings, Ashley+ |
